Hey everyone, quick status update.
Remember that post where I talked about an issue with my eye and not needing surgery? Well, last week on the Solstice, just a couple of hours after doing the headless rite (with sight in my feet!) my retina started to detach. I was in surgery the next evening and have been pirating around with my one good eye ever since (Arrr!). As with everything in my life, there are synchs galore and initiatory narrative and spooky woo stuff, but the practical result is that I’m terrifically behind on EVERYTHING.
I’m going to be fine. In fact, I’m healing remarkably quickly and well (I’m also very literally coated in multiple layers of all this good stuff). I will not lose my vision. I will need new glasses, but should see just as well as I did. Activities like boxing aren’t in my future, but otherwise it will be just fine.
Part of the post surgical process was a series of oddly ritualized body positions. One evening with head bowed, one night on the left side, and culminating with three solid days of laying on my right side as much as possible. This was simultaneously uncomfortable and terrifically boring but one thing it gave me was lots of time to think – which means blog posts incoming (and some longer term stuff as well).
I asked in my last post what I wasn’t seeing… well, I can see it clearly now (and it only took one of my eyes and only temporarily, thank all the Gods and Goddesses). But that’s for the future.
For now, a quick status:
- The planner (monthlies, digital, quarterly calendar) will be going out by end of the week – a little close to the wire – and with an amazing new collaboration that I’m super excited to announce. That should land tomorrow or, latest, Friday
- The substack Next Week in Magic post for tomorrow may be slightly delayed (we’re going to see – hah! – how it goes)
- I was planning on doing two new videos, one related to the changes from the new collaboration and one for the bonus content… those will be delayed as well and will, in any case, not have my face in them (trust me, we’re talking Eye of Sauron, Solar eclipse, horror movie orb over here — plus an amazing shiner that’s fading fast, but not fast enough)
- I’m going to block my calendar for a bit so I don’t end up overextending myself – apologies to anyone who was thinking of booking with me. Please note, I will not be changing any bookings currently scheduled so if you got in under the wire, good for you! If you are a current long term client and it’s an emergency, email me and I’ll slot you in (I don’t have a good setup to distinguish between new clients and existing ones for availability right now). I’ve been getting to that point where I’m going to need to open new client bookings on a schedule (I’ve been trying to avoid that) but current clients always, ALWAYS, get priority – even if you have to stare at my Medusa eye to do it
