So yesterday was an auspicious day for magic. The Sun and Moon were both in Taurus on a Venus day and it was lunar day 30 — AKA the day for prepping and planning. My intention was to come home and do a magic working around prosperity and sustainability for the coming months.
That was my intention. What actually happened was a hell of a lot different.
First, I got home to find my 16-year-old starting to weed the front yard. Over the last few years we’ve been xeriscaping our small front lawn, covering the grass with old boxes and dumping local woodchips and adding new perennials twice a year or so. It’s much lower maintenance than before, however it’s necessary to go through and get the worst of the dandelions out so that our various attempts at ground cover have a chance to maybe start covering the ground at some point. I can only say that I wish I liked the taste of dandelion better.
Now, having a teenager volunteer to do yard work is like, well, like being hit by lightening during an eclipse… on Mars. So when he suggested I sow some flower seeds, all plans were tossed aside. My husband joined us and the three of us all ended up in the front yard, weeding, planting, raking, etc.
And honestly, I can’t think of a better Venus in Taurus activity than gardening with the people I love most in the world.
We just went in to start dinner when things got even weirder.
In order to respect everyone’s privacy, I’ll just say that our neighbor had a medical event while working in his yard, and our little family ended up providing support in various ways. I drove the neighbor’s wife (who is very shy and whose first language isn’t English) to the ER when she couldn’t go in the ambulance and and stayed with her. It was a potent reminder of how fragile we are in our ridiculous meat suits and how special and precious love is.
As far as I know as of last night he had shown good signs of improvement and was stable. His adult son came in from out of town and took the wife to the hospital this morning.
When I got in, about 11:30, I had some dinner and fell into bed. I hadn’t done any of my planned enchantments, but I guess that was enough magic for one day.
