For Inner Circle members, the September planners are up on the member portal. And as we step over the threshold into a new season, I wanted to take a moment to provide a brief overview of the rest of the year…

There are many different ways to think about astrology. Beyond just Natal / Electional / Horary, there’s also whether you focus on societal / macro impacts vs. personal / micro ones — longer cycles or short ones. What I do in the planner is consider the ways that, each day, the alignments suggests better and worse climate for certain types of enchantments. It’s highly granular, but also not personal. Instead, it’s tactical and practical, suggesting things you can do or might avoid NOW. And that’s by design. If you want to know which way the larger winds are blowing for societies, countries, or humanity, there are much better sources. And if you need insight into your own chart, then a personal astrologer is your best bet.

The goal of the planner is to make it easier to do magic, right now, where you are at, with what you have, in any way you can.

The reason I’m bringing this up is that the space weather for the rest of the year… isn’t great. It’s rough, and for the first time since I started doing the planner (just for myself in 2017 as I learned from Gordon’s courses about the Hygromanteia and then publicly in 2020) I’ve been wondering just how we enchant in a positive, productive way in this climate. And it’s critical that I work it out, because the bad news doesn’t really stop at the year boundary.

Regardless of what else is going on in your life and the world, having a robust and effective magical practice is a good thing. In fact, it’s going to be a necessary thing in the challenging times that lay ahead of us. I’ve been considering how empowered storytelling, hyper-local targeting, and mitigatory enchantment form a way of viewing magic that’s risk aware but still positive. This is going to be my focus over the next month and then beyond through the rest of this year and the next.

My experiments will be documented here and results will inform the planner in future months. If you want to get a head start learning more about dealing with difficult times, you might find my book, Risky Business, helpful. And if you are interested in reviewing the September planner, you can do so for free.
