Here’s more about how to use the planner to do magic. And I’m making it public because if you’ve ever considered becoming a member, this info. might help you decide whether it makes sense for you (first month free).
Goal Based: Start by defining a high level goal for the month and find days that match the goal. For example, let’s say you decide to focus on prosperity. Prosperity might include luck, health, expansion, and blessings, but also enchanting your boss, silencing gossip, defeating your enemies, and winning lawsuits or contests. Or lets say your goal is about having a happy family. Then you’d focus on love, children, communication, household health, and happiness. Remember too that doing magic is not just about spells and rituals, but also about living a more enchanted life. A date night or family outing can be just as magical and powerful for making a happy household, particularly if you can schedule it for an auspicious time. If you have something major you are working toward you can do this over the course of months.
This is a thematic approach that aligns your workings with your vision for your life. The possible negative though is that not every month is equally good for each goal.
Month Based: The reverse is to look through the month and identify a common theme. So if a particular month has a lot of Mercury aspects or transits, you might decide to focus on communication. Again, this can be in a positive light (speaking truth to power, communicating clearly) but also negative (silencing liars, stopping gossip). Maybe this is the month you finally join Toast Masters?
This is a more targeted approach for shorter term goals. The lunar days came out of a very practical time. Health, wealth, wisdom… these are common desires across times and places. So take advantage of the ones that are auspicious. This also allows you to try different things. There are a number of days for love, so perhaps you experiment with different kinds of enchantments (honey jars, candle spells, sigils) for the same goal across a month or more. This is a great way to figure out what forms of enchantment really resonate with you.
Calendar Based / Hot Days: Sometimes you just want to experiment (fuck around and find out!). Maybe you’re really busy and don’t have a lot of time for thematic month planning. Maybe you’re just getting your feet wet and want to try things. In this case, just look at the week ahead and see what sticks out at you. Is there a day for spirit engagement that you happen to have free? Well, lock yourself in a dark room with a candle and see who answers the phone. Or maybe there’s a care of the household day that’s kind of quiet. So you do some housekeeping, but magic it up. There’s no reason that all of this has to be planned and formal. You can also just see what the day or week holds and align yourself to it. If you have a common framework for magic (members, see my series on this) then it’s easy to plug a little enchantment into everyday activities.
Chart Based: If you are familiar with your own chart, you can start by seeing if any space weather particularly hits your natal horoscope and then enchant to either strengthen or mitigate the effects. You don’t have to be an astrologer to do this either. Start simply with the most obvious alignments. Maybe a conjunction that everyone is talking about being positive (Jupiter and Venus) is in your 5th house of creativity or your 10th house of career. So focus your working in that area. Or perhaps a malefic square is also square one of your planets. This might suggest protective or mitigation magic to keep the impact from being too rough. If you know that something is going to be rough, you can pre-enchant to make it less rough… or at least practice self-care. You can also do more general mitigation. Venus weak in your chart? Well, during times she is strong, you can create charms or talismans that you use when things aren’t so positive.
And naturally, you might mix it up. One month, you go thematic, another you experiment, and a third you keep your head down and your mouth shut and stick to protections and warding.
